Gregory Crewdson Documentary

Lovers of art documentaries rejoice: Brief Encounters is released at the end of this month.  The documentary “provides an unparalleled view of the moment of creation of his images. It also reveals the life-story behind the work—through frank reflections on his life and career” of Gregory Crewdson.

I started paying attention to Crewdson’s photos after seeing the first image above grace the cover of Yo La Tengo’s And Everything Turned Itself Inside Out back in 2000.  The amount of planning and execution that goes into these singular images is herculean.  You would think the production was for a feature-length film, not one single photo.  Brief Encounters looks like a fascinating look into this mammoth process.
